Hello to all,
Sorry it took so long to answer your quetion about Sinque.I have not
checked my website in a while. Yes, Sinque was with Slave in the 1980s and
90's. I dont remember the exact year, but he was in Slave for many years.
I worked with Sinque in 2002 to about 2005 in the Slave Hall of Fame.We
had a great time, I enjoyed all the shows and recordings we did.

Take care,

The Funk Collection Band

March 30, 2008

As an aspiring R&B funk band we’ve been great fans of SLAVE for many years. We had the distinct pleasure of meeting Sinque Grier, Mark Hicks, Mark Adams and Danny Webster as well as other members of SLAVE at various performances between 1993 through 1996. It is very distasteful for us to see negative comments on your website about whether Sinque Grier was ever a member of the group.
We purchased the Slave Hall of Fame “PLAY IT LOUD” CD and though it was a great project. We were at the JAMS festival in 2005 and saw Sinque and you Buddy on stage tearing the roof of the sucker as Slave Hall of Fame. Keep the Funk alive!

Buddy,

Just had to check your site out. I see you changed it up. Thanks for getting back to me on Youtube. I was really looking forward to the Stellar Fungk coming to Cleveland, Oh.

Your bass lines on 'Weak at the Knees' is an All-Time classic for bass fanatics.

I'll be keeping up on what you and the band will be doing. Hope to catch you live. I gotta get me one of those skillet hats you wear onstage. That's real fly!

I recall someone on youtube mistaking you for Shock-G of Digital Underground. That rehearsal video for 'Watchin You' was TIGHT!

Ok Bro! Keep Thumpin. Thanks for all the good music.

July 7, 2007

Hi James, Thanks for getting down on the funk.

Answer to your question:

Slave has only one bass player and that is Mark Adams. I was only 15 years old a freshman in high school when Slave first album came out.
To make a long story short, I am credited as the bassist on songs included on "The Best Of Slave CD" " "SLAVE-Definitive Groove CD" "SLAVE- Party Lights CD" featuring Steve Arrington's Hall Of Fame and many more SLAVE comilation Cds released.
Fans sometimes mistakenly credit M.Adams for "Weak At The Knees" " In The Mood To Groove" and "Way Out" which I am the bassist on those original records by Aurra and Steve Arrington's HOF. I have not yet heard of myself being credited with M. Adams recordings on Slave or Aurra records.

PS. Fans also get confused about Slave "family of funk" which is an extension of Slave, not the original Slave. I'm about to put that to rest, to much confusion, I have to get on with today and not the past. Floyd Miller, Cedell Carter, Curt Jones, Billy Young and myself was trying to go forward with this new line up, but I think it's best to leave the past in the past.

Thanks again for stopping by,

B. Hankerson

July 3, 2007

As a bass player I listened to you on Steve Arrington's records and you are great.I listen and learn from you.I'm also a Mark Addams fan.I've been a Slave fan since day 1.How is it your credited for being on Slave Records. No disrepect but I seen slave back in the day and always Mark Addams. This a record you might 2 set straight. Keep thumpin and pluckin cus your a badass.

Hey Buddy,

This is your brother Rich Harmon. I just found you on YouTube and watched your 1984 masterpiece. I remember when you would play that first song back in 1973. I still have you on audio tape. I knew your were great, but didn't realize just how great.

I talk to Hank a lot and have a trip planned for Jersey next month. Are you still in Atlanta? If so, how are things going. Send me an email and fill me in on what you're up to. I am married with a 16 month old daughter, living in Florida.

Take care,

Hi Tony aka Riddimmaster,
Yes, you're right. The Legion members were Rodger Parker "drums", Cedell Carter "sax & keys", Arthur"butch" Rhames "guitar& keys", Sam Carter "keys" Myself on bass, and Curt Jones "lead vocals & guitar" and a close friend of mine Stan Little who helped pay for the original master "Guarantee".
We had many more demo jams scheduled to be recorded in 1985, but unfortunately CBS did not pick up the option for the album.

Thanks for your question.

November 27, 2006

Hi Konglather,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, I'm sorry to say Arthur"Butch" Rhaimes passed away in the late 80's he's deeply missed.
Arthur and Kevin played guitar on "weak at the knees". Kevin layed his tracks on the original session, and Arthur overdubbed his part after we signed with Atlantic.

We're in the process of confirming dates in the netherlands keep checking in for future updates. The stellarship is getting fueled and is just about to blast off.....!!!
Thanks again Konglather for your support!!!!

Take care,

November 25, 2006

Sorry , i meant the 2nd snapshot in your gallery.
I received a question from fans ... who did the guitar-part on " Weak At The Knees " ?
I thought it was the late Arthur Rhaimes but also saw that Kevin Eubanks played guitar on the Hall Of Fame-debut album .

Thanx again in advance Buddy and good luck with all the preparations for the World Tour.
CAN'T WAIT !

SA 02.09 23h ROBODISCO mit Lesotho Bros feat. Frank Popp, Mini Club: LIGHT YEARS AWAY mit DJ Friction

TWO SOUL 30.04.06

April 6, 2006

TWO SOUL Festival for Classic & Contemporary Soul Music
Best things in life are simple: two times a year, two floors, two DJs at a time. TWO SOUL
Floor 1 (60ies, Soul, Garage, Teenbeat)
23.00 – 00.30 Uhr DJs Aaron & Eric (Schocken, Scholz)
00.30 – 02.30 Uhr DJs Marc Calmbach & DJ Labazar (Beat & Soul Club, Monochrome)
02.30 – Open End The Katzenjammer Kids (Club Zwölfzehn, Schocken)
Floor 2 (70ies, Funk, Disco, Rare Grooves)
23.00 – 00.00 Uhr Clint & Eastwood (Stereo Lounge, Flint Bar)
00.00 – 01.00 Uhr The Original Sinners (Vinyl West, Soul Glow)
01.00 – 02.00 Uhr Lesotho Bros (Robodisco, Rocker 33)
02.00 – Open End DJs Thorsten W. & DJ Friction (Freundeskreis, Four Music, Feel
Alright)

SA 18.02.06 23:00 LESOTHO BROS present ROBODISCO feat. The LOVEMACHINES (Helsinki)
+ VERSTAERKER CLUB goes ROCKER 33 mit den DJs Marek & Thomas

Church of ROBODISCO - Das jüngste Gericht

Uptempo-Soul, Deep Funk, Afrobeat, Mod, Northern Soul, Freakbeat

Amen.

nice site brother. been a slave, aurra and young and company fan since '98. nice grooves you made back in the day with those bands we really dig them and love them. here in istanbul, funk music has no attention even though some dj's play common ones in clubs but it needs to gain more attention as I stated but back in the day it's about late 70's and early 80's, slave, aurra and young and company used to be very popular in disco's here especially `the hydromel` a fancy disco on european side. me and some of my friends 've been trying to spread the spirit of this music around desperately. nonetheless we love your music and bass work. additionaly we'd like to see you right here in istanbul with slave members.good luck brothers and thanks for your time=)

Buddy,

Your music inspired my boyfriend at a young age to follow his dreams. Although his life has taken many twists and turns since childhood, he continues today with his love of music.

Thank you for sharing your music.

What up Mr. Hankerson? I have followed your career since I was twelve years old and I must say, I am amazed with the fact that everything you have touched tend to make its way to number one. Keep pumping them out and fans like I will continue rocking them in our ride - ya know!

Hey Buddy , thanx for your mail .
Great to see you're releasing solo-work .
Man , i have the Legion 12inch for quite some years now . Mindblowing jamz , guaranteed :) . Also both 'lectric & synth-bass smoke on "City's Jumpin'" . Legion is to me the "Hall Of Fame '85" , PERIOD !.
The Hall Of Fame albums made a big impact on me .The Slave-sound can be recognised , but with a different flava :
Nobody Can Be You / You Meet My Approval /
Speak With Your Body / Weak At The Knees / Way Out / 15 Rounds / Money On It / What Do You Want From Me / Mellow As A Cello ..... locked tight .

keep on strutting your stuff ... peace
